Nursing home residents are guaranteed certain rights under federal law. Also, most states have passed laws that provide additional rights. Nursing homes are required to advise residents of these rights, and to encourage and assist residents throughout their stay in the facility, to exercise their rights as a nursing home resident and as a citizen of the United States.
